Why isn't the scale moving?

In today's episode, I talk about why the scale isn't moving, why you fluctuate in pounds and why the scale is a lying B.

Some reasons the scale isn't moving

  1. What time of day are you weighing yourself and how often?
  2. What foods did you eat that day? Inflammatory foods such as dairy, carbs, sugar and processed keto junk foods will cause water retention
  3. Are you eating too many carbs?
  4. Problems with your hormones- too much cortisol will cause a halt in weight loss, having thyroid issues will slow your metabolism
  5. Gut issues- when your gut is unbalanced you most likely have dysbiosis and excess bloat and water retention 
  6. Medication- are you taking insulin or beta-blockers or other medications that may interfere with weight
  7. Menstrual cycle- are you about to start or are you in the middle of your period and super bloated? 
  8. Alcohol- absolutely will cause inflammation and stop your weight loss immediately for 24-48 hours 
  9. Illness
  10. Too much water
  11. Eating foods that you are allergic to or intolerant too

Action Steps:
Weigh yourself every day for a week. See how much the number has changed and rethink your relationship with the scale and obsession with the number.
